ABN Amro shares jump on report BNP Paribas wants to buy it

ABN Amro shares surged 17% in Amsterdam after Bloomberg News reported that BNP Paribas has expressed interest in buying the lender that is controlled by the Dutch government. The report said BNP has reached out for a meeting with the Dutch government and discussed its interest in a transaction, but the government isn’t seriously examining the interest for the time being.
