Police in Fairfax, Va., said they’re investigating the assault of two staff members in the district office of Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly, adding that the staffers are being treated for injuries that aren’t life-threatening and the suspected attacker is in custody. Connolly said in a statement that an individual entered his Fairfax office on Monday morning “armed with a baseball bat and asked for me before committing an act of violence against two members of my staff.” Connolly also said: “The thought that someone would take advantage of my staff’s accessibility to commit an act of violence is unconscionable and devastating.”
