: MJBiz projects $170.7 billion positive U.S. economic impact from cannabis in five years

The MJBiz daily newsletter on Wednesday unveiled its 2023 MJBiz Factbook, projecting a positive economic impact from the U.S. cannabis industry of $170.7 billion by 2028 as adult use and medical cannabis markets roll out in New York, Maryland, Missouri, Kentucky and elsewhere, up from $100.8 billion in 2023. The $170.7 billion figure for 2028 includes $56.9 billion in retail sales and $113.8 billion in additional economic impact, up from $33.6 billion in retail sales and $67.2 billion in additional economic impact in 2023, according to the publication. The AdvisorShares Pure U.S. Cannabis ETF MSOS is up by 3% on Wednesday and down 22.8% in 2023, compared to a 14.2% increase by the Nasdaq COMP.
