More prospective buyers began researching Tesla Inc. TSLA cars after the electric-vehicle maker slashed prices, Edmunds said on Thursday, with the Model Y and the Model 3 among the website’s most researched autos. Clicks on Tesla vehicle pages on Edmunds rose to 4% of all researched automakers during the week ending Jan. 15, more than double the week prior, Edmunds said. Tesla’s Model Y was the second-most researched automobile on the site over that time, after the Honda CR-V, marking a jump from the No. 70 slot in the prior week. The Model 3 was the 11th-most researched vehicle, Edmunds said, moving up 36 slots. Appraisals also rose sharply, as Tesla owners looked for more information on the impact of the price cuts. Tesla lowered prices on many of its vehicles in the U.S. and Europe by up to 20% in an effort to stimulate demand, according to reports on Friday. Shares fell 1.2% on Thursday.
