: California bill would make Big Tech pay publishers

A California bill that would force Big Tech companies such as Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. META and Alphabet Inc.’s GOOGLGOOG Google to pay media outlets for posting and using their news content cleared the state Assembly on Thursday. Earlier this week, Meta threatened to remove news articles from its platform if the proposal becomes law.
