: Ryan Reynolds buys stake in Canadian fintech Nuvei, stock up premarket

Actor and entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds said Monday he has invested in Canadian fintech Nuvei Corp. NVEICA:NVEI “I know about as much about fintech as I did about gin or mobile a few years ago,” Reynolds said in a statement. “But Nuvei is impressive. The leadership team is exceedingly intelligent and hard-working and it’s about time a Canadian company got the type of attention American tech companies do.” The news comes a month after Mint Mobile, a budget wireless provider that is another investment of Reynolds, was acquired by T-Moble US Inc. TMUS for $1.35 billion. Reynolds has also bought stakes in American Aviation Gin and Welsh soccer club Wrexham Football Club. Nuvei is a payments company with card acquiring services in more than 200 markets. Nuvei’s stock was up 1.4% premarket.
