: Nucor to create 200 more jobs in Alabama as it builds a new tower production plant

Nucor Corp. NUE said Wednesday that it expects to create 200 full-time jobs in Alabama, as it announced a plan to build a new transmission tower production plant in Decatur, next to its sheet steel mill that is already there. The steel maker’s new plant is part of its plan announced in December to invest $270 million to build two new tower production plants. The company said it continues to evaluate potential sites in the U.S. Midwest for the second plant. “Alabama offers world-class companies like Nucor all the advantages they need to find success, including a skilled workforce, a pro-business environment and a solid support system,” said Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey. Nucor’s stock, which rose 1.4% in midday trading, has rallied 9.0% over the past three months while the S&P 500 SPX has ticked up 0.2%.
