Playtika to lay off 15% of its staff

Mobile-games designer Playtika Holding Corp. plans to lay off about 15% of its workforce, Chief Executive Robert Antokol said in an email to employees that was also filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. “As we assess the current environment and look toward the future, Playtika must return to our roots of excellence through agility, efficiency, creativity and being obsessed with winning to deliver the most fun forms of mobile entertainment to our players,” he said in the message. “We will begin achieving this by balancing teams and redeploying talent, winding down non-core initiatives and consolidating studios for greater efficiency and a stronger focus on optimization.” Antokol noted that Playtika has removed three current titles from its pipeline “with priority toward strategic high-growth potential new games investments.” Playtika had about 4,000 employees as of Dec. 31, 2021. Shares have lost more than half their value over the past 12 months as the S&P 500 has lost about 17%.
