The Nasdaq Composite led a sharp bounce higher by major stock indexes Thursday, ending 2.6% higher after ending the previous session at a 2022 low. Stocks were buoyed as analysts said a rise in weekly jobless claims offered some tentative evidence the Federal Reserve’s efforts to slow the economy were working. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended with a gain of around 345 points, or 1%, near 33,221, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 advanced 1.7% to close near 3,849.
