Juul asks appeals court to block FDA’s ban on its vape products–WSJ

Juul Labs Inc. asked Friday that a federal appeals court temporarily block the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s ban on its e-cigarettes, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The FDA on Thursday had banned Juul from marketing its vape products in the U.S., as part of its commitment to ensure all e-cigarette and electronic nicotine delivery products met public health standards. In a filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals, the WSJ report said Juul asked for an administrative stay until it can petition for an emergency review of the FDA’s ban. Shares of Altria Group Inc. , which owned a large share of Juul, fell 0.5% in morning trading. It has has 10.7% year to date, while the S&P 500 has shed 19.3%.
