Dow books fourth straight day of gains as all three major stock benchmarks end higher

All three major U.S. stock benchmarks ended higher Wednesday, with the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite leading the way up as investors digested minutes of the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting in early May. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed about 0.6% higher, while the S&P 500 gained around 1% and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.5%, according to preliminary FactSet data. The Fed’s meeting minutes, released Wednesday afternoon, showed that most officials “judged” that raising the central bank’s benchmark interest rate by a half-point at the next couple of meetings would “likely be appropriate.” The Dow booked a fourth straight day of gains for the first time since late March, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
