White House says it’s ‘looking at ways to reduce the import of Russian oil’

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Friday said the Biden administration is “looking at ways to reduce the import of Russian oil,” with her remarks coming a day after she appeared to pour cold water on a push in Congress to ban Russian crude. “We are looking at options we could take right now to cut U.S. consumption of Russian energy, but we are very focused on minimizing the impact to families,” Psaki told reporters during a press briefing. “If you reduce supply in the global marketplace, you are going to raise gas prices , you’re going to raise the price of oil , and that is something the president is very mindful of and focused on.” She also said she “wouldn’t say our position has changed in any way since yesterday.”
