Amazon.com Inc. announced Thursday that it has partnered with 140 colleges and universities to provide its 750,000 hourly U.S. employees with the chance for a college education with fully-funded tuition. Among the participating institutions are Southern New Hampshire University and Colorado State University-Global. Amazon is also partnering with GEDWorks and Smart Horizons to help workers complete their GED, and has partnered with Voxy EnGen and goFLUENT for English proficiency training. Outlier college preparation courses are also free. The new benefits are part of the Career Choice program in which Amazon pledged to invest $1.2 billion to upskill 300,000 Amazon employees by 2025. Amazon stock is up 1.2% over the past year while the S&P 500 index has gained about 15%.
