Biden says ‘America is back to work’ after better-than-expected jobs report

President Joe Biden on Friday touted a much better-than-expected jobs report, saying “America is back to work” after the government reported that the U.S. added 467,000 jobs in January and hiring was much stronger at the end of 2021 than originally reported. “America’s jobs machine is growing stronger than ever,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. Still, said the president, the country has a lot of work to do, including keeping workers’ wages growing and continuing to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
