Sam Freij is an accomplished businessman who also loves traveling and has a great appreciation for the Mexican Caribbean region of Yucatan, specifically Cancun, Isla Mujeres, and Isla Contoy. He started documenting his journey in 2016 on his Instagram page, Travel with Sam. His enthusiasm for traveling and cooking stems from growing up in a large family who loved to cook and travel. He also likes to share with whoever’s interested to learn about his journeys, and has managed to attract a following of more than a quarter million people on Instagram alone.
His posts are filled with soft white sands from exotic beaches, native cuisine, and tropical beverages. He also enjoys parasailing or traveling on a yacht to the islands. Every post details Sam’s location and what he is cooking. His travels have brought him new friends all over the world from places such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Lebanon, Morocco, and more.
Through his Instagram journey, he has been able to interact with many successful brands such as International Presidente Cancun, one of the most pristine and magical beaches in Cancun, the lovely Hyatt Aruba, and Ooni Ovens. This is where he started making his homemade Roman and Neapolitan-style pizza. “The goal is for people to experience what it’s like to travel with me to these destinations,” Sam explains. “It also meant to serve as an inspirational travel guide.”
Actively involved with his Instagram fans, he offers advice to help followers plan their travel destinations and give them an idea of what to expect in specific areas. “At times, it feels like people are trying to live through me vicariously,” Sam Freij says, laughing. “I’m happy to help people experience the amazing places I’ve been.” He especially loves to help set up itineraries for his friends and followers in Mexico, which is near to his heart because of the history, culture, and cuisine. “I am genuinely thankful for all the followers and supporters I have, Sam says. “No matter who they are, I respond with as much information as I can.”
“I consider myself to be a self-made entrepreneur,” Sam explains. “I got where I am today on my own.” Sam’s self-starting attitude has afforded him the ability to travel and create content. In March of 2020, the page started to gain more traction. His Instagram page ended up being an escape for followers during a time when people were stranded at home under lockdown. “I was happy to offer some form of escapism during that time,” Sam states. “These locations really are the perfect escape.”
Sam Freij has visited over twenty-four countries, but the one he seems to enjoy the most is Cancun, Mexico. “I am really looking forward to this next trip to the Intercontinental Presidente Cancun, where our newly hired producer and professional photographer, Tony Kaloti will join me,” Sam explains. In the future, Sam plans to visit Turkey, Lebanon, Chile, and Argentina next. Whatever Sam Freij’s destination is, he takes his followers with him. He only hopes that he can continue to impress his followers with more and more trips.
